Week 3 A+
This weeks reading was definitely a bit on the overwhelming side to take it all in! From learning about a CPU which is essentially the computer. EDB which is how we as people are able to communicate with the man in the box of infinite information. Now that we seem to have conquered the barrier of computing technology we have to add ways to save and retrieve that knowledge. This is completed by means of RAM and not all RAM is the same. In the early days of computing a technician had to determine what RAM would be compatible with each CPU based on its clock speed. Thanks to the evolution of the CPU making these adjustments is now all but seamless and requires little thought. Now what we have to consider is how fast we want to access and perform work with our man in the box! So many different options to choose from now is more of what makes it difficult for us to decide what CPU and RAM to combine together to meet each of our individual needs. Just like us working in the yard doing chores or any type of labor we begin to heat up and have to drink some water just as our man in the box needs a good fan system to prevent him from overheating. The next hurdle to jump in the build of a great desktop is to realize that more memory required larger physical space to meet the need. Thankfully this space management was mitigated by the means of RAM sticks that are placed vertically to save space on the motherboard. The motherboard could be easily described as the brain of the computer. This description can be used because the motherboard is what allows the CPU to interact with all the external components of the computer such as the memory, monitor, keyboard, and all other types of interfaces that we can throw at our CPU processing chip.
