Week 12 A+ Final Blog

This class has been very informative and enjoyable. I found myself very stressed in the first couple of weeks until I found my groove. Oddly enough I found the content of this course helpful in my daily work life. It helped me have a better understanding of the devices I assist people with and utilize on a regular basis. Not only have I gained knowledge during this semester, I have also confirmed that I am focusing on the right path for my own future in the field of IT. If I am being 100% honest with myself I would probably not see myself doing too many blogs in my personal time. I have found blogging to be the scariest of the assignments. I’m sure they will become easier as I have to post in future courses.  To mention a bit about the final chapters for this weeks study in securing computers I found myself pondering on a related topic for anyone to be aware of as well. Just like we look to secure our computers and networks and staff from attacks we should also be mindful of ...

Week 11 Network + Blog

This weeks blog is a bit of a crossover for me because I have a curiosity question that came to mind from an outside place. With network security being paramount in any given business, what about the network printers. We have to download drivers for the printers directly onto the network, but we have not checked those drivers code to ensure they are free of any corruption that could simply report to attackers after we unknowingly download the virus ourselves directly onto the company network. If something like this were possible who would be responsible for the data breech?

Week 11 A+ Blog

After reading through a classmates discussion this week I came up with a question that I would love feedback from anyone that can offer answers. I was thinking about how the print drivers are added to a network and what if a print driver were corrupted and a attacker was able to enter a network within a company from a simple driver install. Is it even possible?

Week 10 Network +

Cloud computing is a topic that I found interesting early on in the semester. It is awesome that this topic is what my term paper is designed around. This method of computing has been impacted by the outside world expediting its need and usefulness. Covid-19 left many companies struggling to find ways to continue producing while having to send so many people home. Cloud computing became the saving grace for many needs. It allows the company to have all resources necessary to function be available outside the closed network. This is a major evolution in business to employee interaction.

Week 10 A+ Blog

This week was definitely insightful as I learned about the technology of cellphones. I found this information most helpful because this is the industry I work in on a daily basis. Not only did we discuss some typical issues but I would like to add that majority of people really never take the time to learn or even use their cell phones to the devices fullest potential. There are so many features on whatever device you look at whether it is an Android or Apple system.

Week 9 Network+

It is amazing to me to think that the things we take for granted these days like surfing the internet on our phones is a marvel in technology! By the use of radio frequencies we are able to simply transmit data and calls over the air. Using the atmosphere to relay all this and not having your information lost in transmission. It makes me think about so many things we do today that would have been considered alien no more than 30 years ago. If we can use the air to transmit so much, seemingly infinite data 24/7 can we push those limits into technology we have seen in the movies like matter transportation. How cool would that be if we could forget a flight and just simply step into an elevator like space and open the door to somewhere else on the planet. Crazy sounding I’m sure but would be cool to get off work and travel the world for a few hours before bed.

Week 9 A+ Blog

One of the things I learned this week was during the video for upgrading your memory in a laptop computer. There are 3 different types of memory boards DDR200, DDR2 and DDR3 DDR200 and DDR2 are both 200 pin boards and DDR3 is a 204 pin board. All 3 boards have subtle differences, but the main one is that none can be plugged into the wrong slot in the laptop because the way each one is inserted is different. This difference was designed intentionally to help prevent accidental repairs with the wrong type memory.
